Image Profiling our Country-Based Collaborators

Sumaj Punchay is a Bolivian NGO, with expertise in locally mitigating the effects of climate change, food security and sovereignty, sustainable family agriculture. They work in a country where 3 million people live in rural areas, where agricultural labour is the main source of employment. Approximately, 70 % of these people live below the poverty line. Accordingly, Sumaj Punchay plays a key role in ensuring the livelihood of these rural, farming populations. The NGO works to ensure children have access to drinking water in rural schools, by harvesting rainwater. It also works with farmers in their 60s and 70s, helping them to continue farming, even as rainfall patterns change in the local region.

APAF (Association pour la promotion des arbres fertilitaires) is a dynamic, experienced NGO, working in six West-African countries. They are committed to reinstating traditional, African agroforestry techniques. Mr Mansour N’Diaye directs APAF-Senegal. He has directed the planting 250,000 rapidly growing trees, which are re-fertilising lands farmed by 49 Senegalese villages. We are excited to collaborate with APAF this year, combining our agroforestry and rainwater harvesting knowledge.

In 2019, our long-standing partner, Kanchan Nepal, will install a Blue School in Bijaya, near Pokhora, Nepal, with our assistance. For Kanchan’s engineers and technicians, harvesting rain means storing and sharing a common, resource. Please, do have a look at their Facebook page with its great video, promoting their work!
