Project implementation

The IRHA implements rainwater harvesting projects with the aim of providing sustainable access to safe water, thereby improving both livelihoods and ecosystem conservation.

The alleviation of poor sanitation conditions is also a central part of the implemented activities, due to their close link with the inadequate supply of clean water.

Capacity building and awareness raising

The IRHA was created to be an international platform for the promotion of RWH worldwide, and much of our time is dedicated to awareness raising and knowledge exchange activities.

This includes work with younger generations, the general public, authorities and professionals. We also work to enhance South-South and North-South collaboration.

Empowering the Rainwater Harvesting Movement

The IRHA, as an umbrella organisation, has the important task of empowering the existing rainwater harvesting movement, building an alliance of rainwater harvesters, diverse yet united.

Our aim is to create synergies between the major stakeholders in the rainwater harvesting sector at international, regional, national and local levels.

Political positioning of Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is a strategic and sustainable way of achieving the Millennium Development Goal for freshwater and is a powerful tool for climate change adaptation.

The IRHA works to influence policy at local, national, regional and international levels, thereby raising rainwater harvesting to the top of the political agenda.
