International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance
Alliance internationale pour la gestion de l'eau de pluie (IRHA)
Alianza internacional para la gestión del agua de lluvia (IRHA)
|Who we are
The International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA) was founded following recommendations formulated during the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg to become the international platform for promotion of rainwater as a valuable water resource. Its mandate called for reinforcement and unification of the disparate rainwater harvesting (RWH) movement around the world, and for contribution for the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals.
“The IRHA vision is a large use of rainwater in every field of life.”
The IRHA mission is to promote Rainwater Harvesting as a tool for climate change adaptation and as a water resource which should be viewed in the framework of the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
|The IRHA Structure
The IRHA is structured in two groups: Active Members and Associate Members. The IRHA Secretariat, Board of Directors and Advisory Committee make up the Active Members. The Associate Members are all the other IRHA Members, such as organisations, individuals and institutions.
|Articles of Association
Our Articles of Association govern our organisation. These Articles were approved on the 15th November 2002 when the IRHA was created in Geneva. The Articles were amended most recently on 9th December 2009, during the Extraordinary General Assembly.
|Code of Ethics
Dating from the creation of the IRHA, the noble ideas that founded our organisation have provided the basis of our Code of Ethics. These were then expanded, to become an unalterable part of our activities. It will always be so, as our work is inseparable from ethical conduct, both personally and professionally.
Activities Reports, from 2005 to 2012, are available to download. Our Activities Reports outline all the activities undertaken by the IRHA, divided into our four key areas, they also give an overview of our finances and plans for the following year.
