THE IRHA-WOCAT Exposition & Dialogue Programme in Kenya



From 10-16 October 2006, the IRHA had its second Exposition & Dialogue Programme in Annuli, Kenya; entitled "Rainwater Harvesting & Soil and Water Preservation for Food Security".

Participants & trainers came from as far as Cameroon, Colombia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somaliland, Switzerland & Tanzania.

Rock catchment rainwater harvesting, a project funded by the SDC:



The workshop was run in conjunction with the World Overview of Conservation Approaches & Technologies ( WOCAT).

The main work consisted in training the participants to using WOCAT questionnaires and in documenting RWH & soil & water conservation projects for future dissemination.

Field visit organized by the organizers led the participants to the rock catchment project in Masaï region, which was funded by SDC.


RWH & Women empowerment in Kajiado district October 2006





Following the IRHA programme to organize South-South exchanges, representatives from the IRHA Secretariat and WOTR (India) visited the Kajado Women's Project, which had its first phase implemented by Earth, Care and UNEP.
